Hughey Law Firm has resolved more than 1,000 nursing home neglect and elder abuse cases in South Carolina since opening in 2007. The milestone reflects the firm’s nearly two decades of work representing families in cases involving nursing home and assisted living neglect, including pressure ulcers, malnutrition, medication errors, falls, elopement, and physical and sexual abuse.
Founded by Nathan Hughey, the firm focuses on elder abuse, nursing home negligence, and assisted living facility neglect, with more than 70% of its caseload involving long-term care residents across South Carolina. Hughey emphasized that the milestone represents the many families who sought accountability after loved ones were harmed while receiving care.
The firm represents families throughout South Carolina and draws on Hughey’s prior experience defending nursing facilities to investigate and pursue claims involving inadequate or improper care.
Nathan Hughey, an attorney and fourth-generation South Carolinian, founded Hughey Law Firm in 2007. Before that, he spent five years defending nursing homes and insurance companies. Leveraging his experience, he now advocates for those injured or wronged by such entities, securing over $300 million in verdicts and settlements.
