Daniel Nathan Hughey

Attorney Nathan Hughey graduated from the College of Charleston in 1996. He then attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, graduating in 2000. He joined the Hood Law Firm of Charleston that same year. He later became a partner at the Hood Law Firm. Mr. Hughey then joined the Lourie Law Firm in late 2006, where he secured numerous victories for his clients. Mr. Hughey opened the Hughey Law Firm in 2007 to focus his efforts on civil litigation and has continued to obtain results for his clients, with in excess of $7,000,000.00 in verdicts and settlements obtained in the past two years.

Mr. Hughey has handled numerous complex civil cases, including many wrongful death cases. He has successfully handled a large number of civil trials. He has argued before various state and federal courts in South Carolina and has argued and won before the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Mr. Hughey was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2000. He was admitted to the United States District Court, District of South Carolina, in 2001. He was admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in 2006.

Mr. Hughey has been retained to speak on topics related to nursing home litigation and protecting the elderly for many years. He also teaches nursing home litigation and regulations to other attorneys annually and has authored extensive written materials regarding nursing home litigation.  Many other firms retain Mr. Hughey on a regular basis to assist them in nursing home litigation and other civil litigation matters for his expertise and experience.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar, the Charleston County Bar, the American Association for Justice and the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association. He is a former member of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association.

Mr. Hughey was born in Columbia, South Carolina and now resides in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. The firm serves clients throughout South Carolina.
